This year summer solstice falls on Thursday, June 20 at precisely 9.51pm in the UK. The sun will rise at 4.43am. The solstice officially marks the beginning of the astronomical summer, which ends when the autumn equinox falls on September 22.
Solstice Empowerment Ritual
The solstice, whether summer or winter, is a time of significant energy and transformation. This ritual will help you harness the power of the solstice to empower yourself and set intentions for the coming months.
Preparation
Choose Your Space: Find a quiet, comfortable outdoor space where you can safely light a fire or indoors with several candles or keep it simple and just use one. If indoors, ensure good ventilation if using candles.
Gather Supplies:
Ritual Steps
Cleansing:
Begin by cleansing your space and yourself. Sprinkle a circle of salt around your ritual area to protect and purify it.
Take the bowl of water and sprinkle it over yourself, symbolising the washing away of old energies.
Grounding and Centring:
Sit comfortably on your mat or blanket. Take several deep breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth.
Visualise roots growing from your body into the Earth, grounding you and connecting you to the planet's energy, deep within the centre of Mother Earth.
Invocation:
Call upon the elements, spirits, or deities you believe in. Say something like:
I call upon the Earth, the foundation of my being,
I call upon the Air, the breath of life,
I call upon the Fire, the spark of transformation,
I call upon the Water, the flow of emotions,
On this sacred solstice, I seek your blessings.
Lighting the Fire:
Light your fire pit or candles. As you do so, focus on the flame as a symbol of your inner light and potential. Reflect on the significance of the solstice – the longest day or night of the year – and what it means for you.
Setting Intentions:
Take your journal and pen. Write down your intentions for the next six months. Be clear and specific about what you want to achieve or manifest.
Then chunk it up. Think about how achieving those goals and dreams will make you feel and write that down. Maybe it will be FREE or LIBERATED.
Add the feelings into a sentence as if you own it already; “I am Free” “I am Liberated” etc. Include the exerperience you wish to attract or create "I love my new job and the freedom it brings me and my family"
It has to be written in the positive, present tense as if you already have or own it.
After writing your intentions, read them aloud, infusing them with your energy and determination.
Empowerment Visualisation:
Hold your crystal in your dominant hand. Close your eyes and visualise yourself achieving your goals. See and feel the success, joy, and empowerment that comes with it.
Imagine the energy of the solstice infusing your crystal with power and light. Feel this energy flowing into you, filling you with strength and confidence.
Herbal Offering:
Take the fresh herbs or flowers and place them in the fire or around the candles. As they burn or rest, say:
“With these herbs, I offer my gratitude to the universe,
May their essence carry my intentions and prayers.”
Meditation and Reflection:
Spend a few minutes in silent meditation, bringing your hands together in a prayer position pressing your finger prints together focusing on your breath and the energy around you.
This will SAVE it to the hard drove of your mind and will ripple out into the universe which will reflect back all that is good. Give thanks for your journey, your growth, and the path ahead.
Closing the Ritual:
Thank the elements, spirits, or deities you invoked at the beginning. Say:
I thank the Earth for grounding me,
I thank the Air for guiding me,
I thank the Fire for transforming me,
I thank the Water for healing me,
This ritual is complete, and my intentions are set,
Gently extinguish the fire or candles, knowing that their energy continues within you.
Aftercare:
Place the empowered crystal somewhere you can see or touch daily as a reminder of your intentions.
Drink some water and have a small snack to ground yourself back into the present moment.
This ritual harnesses the potent energy of the solstice to empower you, set clear intentions, and align yourself with the natural rhythms of the Earth. Feel free to modify it to suit your personal beliefs and needs.
